The first thing I noticed when I picked it up was that it was soft and comfortable. I feel that items with a definite presence are often imbued with the beauty of their design, technology, and the passion of the creator, but Nido's knits are also made using hand-knitted wooden machines. The inside was made by hand by hand, moving two needles back and forth, adjusting the amount of pressure.
Just the right amount of sweetness
Nido's TEXTURED VEST (cotton vest) is a piece that gives the impression of a truly delicate workmanship due to its beautiful knitting pattern made from thin cotton threads. Its supple appearance gives it a rustic and delicate impression. The hem is curled up, and the design has just the right amount of sweetness that can be felt even from its simple shape. The knit made from 100% cotton yarn is so soft to the touch that you'll almost forget it's even touching your skin.
This can be worn alone like a tank top, but it is also recommended for layered styles. Wear it over a shirt or T-shirt and enjoy coordinating it with a change to your everyday style. For women who find it difficult to choose a versatile white T-shirt for summer because they don't want to see through their underwear, layering this knit will not only give you peace of mind, but it will also elevate your style.
If you look closely, you will see gentle stitches that you cannot see in machine knitting. It looks like a faint watermark pattern, and when you look at the detail, you can see how it has been woven with little adjustments. Most of the knits worn by many people in developed countries and Japan are machine knitted, but Nido's knits are knitted little by little while being adjusted by hand, so they can be finished in just one day. I'd say it's about 10 pieces.
Clothes that come out of machines that are inorganically produced promise a certain level of quality, but at the same time, they draw attention to their individuality and make us forget the feeling of compassion. However, Nido's knits, which are knitted by human hands, have small irregularities and small individualities, which remind us that many things in this world are created by human hands. I'll give it to you. I feel like this is a form of respect for the creator, and it also helps foster a sense of valuing things. Nido's handmade knits have a gentle feel that will surely warm the hearts of those who pick them up.
I arrived at my hometown's knitwear
For example, sweaters, scarves, and gloves that your mother knitted for you. Lace knitting in summer. There was a time, from childhood to adulthood, when everyone felt that making things by hand was unfashionable. Now that I'm older, Nido, a knitwear brand born in Argentina in 2012, reminds me of that warmth.
The brand was founded by Julieta Racket, who grew up in the countryside of Argentina. After studying design, she thought that she needed to create designs that were more specific in daily life and considered the people who use them, which led her to her home town. It was knit. The knitwear from my hometown, which is made with the skills and love of local craftsmen who live and feel in harmony with nature, is full of warmth reminiscent of nostalgic hand-knitted sweaters.
Its warmth comes from the time and effort required from raw materials to manufacturing, using natural materials such as Argentinian sheep wool, llama, mohair, guanaco, and linen, and spinning yarn using a treadle spinning wheel. I was there. The threads are then woven by hand (by hand-woven machines), and the final process is carried out by craftsmen who sew each stitch one by one to form the fabric.
Continuing to convey the beauty of handmade products
Through careful hand-spun, hand-dyed, and hand-knitting techniques, Nido's knits have a warmth that cannot be found in mass-produced items.Nido's knits have a gentleness that you can feel when you hold them in your hands.
We established a knitting school in Buenos Aires not only to convey the value of such clothes and the beauty of handmade products, but also to convey the knitting techniques that can be continued in Argentina. We hold dyeing workshops to learn about natural materials, and by passing on techniques, we continue to carry out various activities to pass on the warmth of knitwear that has been passed down in our hometown to future generations.
