A long quince tray with an arrangement based on the motif of a plant named mokko (mokudou). This is a tray from the KITO series by Aizawa Wood Crafts, which has an impressive wood grain that is beautifully expressed. The shape is carefully created from a single piece of wood, preserving the quality of the material.
Small plate made from natural wood
Aizawa Wood Crafts is a wood craftsman whose skills have been passed down from generation to generation as a wood craftsman who hollows out wood to create bases for lacquerware and other vessels. We create products that fully express the beautiful grain, color, and texture of wood, which can only be achieved by craftsmen who know everything about wood. Aizawa Mokuzai Kogei's strength is that it is able to develop and install large-scale wood drying equipment in-house to ensure stable procurement management and quality of wood materials. The ingenuity that comes from working with natural materials is condensed into the product. This KITO series is named so that you can spend your daily life ``together with trees.''
The quince-shaped design is a traditional design shaped like an open flower with four petals. This tray is finished in the shape of a ``long melon'', which is reminiscent of the shape of a wooden melon, by making the four corners of the oval shape hollow. Because of its oval shape, it is easy to handle as a tray by placing chopsticks on it, or placing a bowl and tea sweets on it. Although the edges are gently curved, they are shaped so that they are easy to hold with your fingers.
Even when viewed from above, the left and right sides are almost symmetrical and uniform. You can tell from the craftsmanship and smooth feel of each piece that the craftsmen carefully crafted. Among all types of wood, chestnut is water-resistant and highly durable, so it has been used as a building material. As if to show its strength, the strong and characteristic wood grain is also visible on the surface of the long melon tray.
Long melon trays are available in various sizes and can be used for a wide range of purposes. The surface is coated with glass paint, which repels moisture and oil, making it easy to handle, and it's the perfect size to use not only as a tray, but also as a plate for toast or desserts. Since it is low and flat, it can also be used as a storage tray. This long melon tray can be used as a place to put your keys at the entrance, or as a place to put your glasses, or wherever you place it, the warmth of the wood will brighten up your surroundings.
Bring out the natural goodness of wood
Aizawa Wood Crafts was founded in 1948 by its founder, Kenji Yososawa. He started out as a joiner's apprentice, and after becoming independent as a woodworker, he produced boxes as a woodworker. After that, we increased the number of craftsmen and machines, and grew into a woodworking shop that can manufacture all-purpose items such as curved items, wooden blocks, and carved items. He has continued to refine his wood joinery skills in the traditional craft of Wajima lacquerware, and has a high level of skill in handling all types of wood for lacquerware, except for bowls.
While continuing to work in the woodworking industry as a subordinate to lacquerware, I felt that I was not being able to fully convey the natural charm of each material, such as the color and texture of each type of wood. The finish and construction will bring out the best in you. Wooden products that are made with the users in mind are gentle on the body, and children and adults can feel at peace just by holding them in their hands.

AIZAWA Wood Works was founded in 1948 by Kenji Aizawa. Beginning as an apprentice of joinery, and he started his own company of woodworking and produced wooden boxes. Later, the company became a manufacturer that handles various wooden products, mainly wooden utensils. In order to take advantage of the original values of the wood, including the color and touch of each wood, AIZAWA Wood Works uses natural finish, such as walnut oil and beeswax, for its products.
