The "Kinmokusei" series was created through a collaboration between HARIO Lampwork Factory and the Iida Umbrella Shop. The Iida Umbrella Shop, where craftsmen make umbrellas one by one using original textiles, is popular for expressing a delicate and beautiful world view inspired by plants, vegetables, and nature motifs in its umbrellas. Introducing a series of glass accessories incorporating such textiles from the IIDA Umbrella Store.
The beauty of colored glass
The fragrance of fragrant olive is felt at the time of year that heralds the transition from autumn to winter. Three items (earrings, necklace, and pierced earrings) are based on the motif of the kumquatsia flower, whose four petals are shaped like a cross.
Most of HARIO Lampwork Factory's glass accessories are basically made of colorless transparent glass, but this series uses colored glass to express the textile of the Iida Umbrella Store. There is such a momentary beauty as if the air and fragrance of autumn, which cools down from summer to autumn and then to winter, are captured directly in the glass kumquats. Wearing them will brighten up your face, making them perfect for those who want to add their own taste to a simple coordinate with accessories.
Training Glass Artisans to Create New Forms
HARIO Lampwork Factory is a handmade brand by HARIO, a Japanese glass manufacturer established in 1921. HARIO is famous for kitchen and tableware such as coffee utensils and tableware, but originally, when the company was founded, craftsmen made scientific and chemical utensils and tableware by hand, one by one. As demand increased, machine manufacturing was introduced to increase efficiency, and the amount of handwork by craftsmen decreased. However, this also meant that craftsmen's handiwork was cut off and they could no longer plan and develop new techniques and new products. In such a situation, HARIO Lampwork Factory was established with the desire to go back to the basics, to deliver products carefully made by glass craftsmen, and to leave the handcrafting techniques to the next generation.
Heat-resistant glass, an infinitely pure material, is brought to life by the hands of artisans, one by one, into delicate products. This is the sound of the burner used in lampwork (also called burner work). Glass rods, the material used to make jewelry, are melted by the flame of the burner, and craftsmen use tools to shape them into various silhouettes. 2000°C flames melt the glass, which cools and hardens over time, so burner work is a race against time. The delicate handiwork includes creating the shape of a crushed glass drop, flower petals, and snowflakes using tools.

The brand now makes handcrafted glass items as it inherits the skills of glasswork to present age.
