Jackman is a factory brand originating from Fukui Prefecture that inherits the spirit of Tanabe Mitsugu, the founder of Tanabe Meriyasu. After the war, he was an employee of the Fukui Prefectural Government, but he quit his job to set up a factory despite opposition from those around him. It was a modest start for the business, with three flat knitting machines in a single eight-tatami room.

American baseball was something that founder Tanabe Mitsugu admired.
