Handmade Waldorf Doll
The warmth of your hands always reaches the heart. Handmade Waldorf dolls play an important role in Steiner education, which respects the individuality and abilities of children.
They are characterized by their ability to empathize with children's feelings that cannot be expressed well in words, and appear to have happy expressions when they are happy and sad expressions when they are sad, stimulating imagination and creativity. The key is a face with a modest expression. It is said that children promote the development of balance between the mind and body by projecting their emotions and imagination onto the doll. Kathe Kruse is the official licensee of such Waldorf dolls.
Friends with warm expressions
When you ask a German person, "What comes to mind when you think of German dolls?", most people will answer Kathe Kruse.
Kathe Kruse is a doll manufacturer that started in 1911 in a small workshop in Germany. It began when a woman named Kathe Kruse wanted to give her daughters dolls with warm expressions to play with, and made dolls that satisfied her. At the time, hard, cold dolls made of ceramic were mainstream, and the soft dolls that she made that could be played with by newborns were rare. The handmade dolls that started with one painter and five seamstresses were well-received at a toy exhibition, and they established their position as representative dolls of Germany. Even now, more than 100 years later, they still cherish traditional craftsmanship while also facing innovations to suit the current era.
