At first glance, it looks like a simple backpack with no pockets, but this JoBu backpack is easy to use. It has a minimalist design that can be matched with any outfit, but it is more functional than it looks, with an external pocket hidden in an easy-to-use place and multiple internal pockets for easy organization.
A backpack that suits everyone
This backpack is made of Kurashiki canvas, a historic material that has been loved for a long time. It can hold A4 size documents, making it easy to use as a commuting bag. Different canvas is used for different parts, with thicker canvas used for the front and bottom for strength, and thinner canvas used for the sides and top of the backpack that come into contact with the body so that it fits comfortably on the body when worn.
The external pocket can be accessed from the side of the front, and the zipper is reversed, making it less noticeable and not interfering with the minimalist design. The main space has a double zipper that is easy to open and close. In addition to the inside sleeve for storing a PC, there are two pockets in front of it, and a pocket on the front for things you want to take out quickly, such as a card case or wallet, making it easy to organize.
In addition, to reduce the burden on your shoulders, the back and shoulder parts are padded, and the top of the backpack is designed to be curved to fit your body better. The back is made of polyester mesh fabric, so it is breathable and you can use it safely even on active days when you carry it for a long time.
From industrial goods to the center of life
JoBu was born at Biston Co., Ltd. in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, a canvas production area founded in 1933. It was born from the encounter between a product designer who wanted to return to the origin of canvas as a tool and create sturdy living tools from natural materials and "Kurashiki Canvas - Biston".
The history of Kurashiki Canvas is long, starting with the sails of ships in the Muromachi period. Since the Meiji period, canvas has been used extensively for industrial materials that require durability, such as truck hoods, industrial conveyor belts, and milk delivery bags. JoBu uses a precious shuttle loom, which is hardly produced these days, to weave the historic Kurashiki canvas by hand, passed down through generations of craftsmen.
JoBu aims to promote the strength of canvas and the charm of Kurashiki canvas as a natural material, not only as an industrial product or work tool, but also as a familiar everyday item. You can feel the commitment to crafting the highest quality canvas fabric into modern-day lifestyle items.
