Retro, but fresh

Arne Jacobsen is one of the most influential architects and designers born in Denmark in the 20th century. He is known as the father of Danish design, having created the prototype for today's modern Nordic design. His chairs, such as the Ant Chair, the first chair in the world to realize a three-dimensional curved back and seat, the Seven Chair with its beautiful lines, and the Egg Chair with its gentle curves that envelop the body, continue to fascinate many people to this day.

Jacobsen said, "I don't make beautiful things, I make things that are needed." His meticulous products, which embody the perspectives of both creators and users at a high level, are still highly regarded not only in Denmark but all over the world even after more than half a century has passed.

Tracing the roots of Arne Jacobsen

Jacobsen traveled around the country and left behind sketches of landscapes, architecture, and antique furniture, and his works often feature clocks with Roman numerals, giving a glimpse of his obsession with Roman numerals.

The first design by Jacobsen, "ROMAN", is a design that traces back to his roots, and is said to have been inspired by an old wall clock from the 1700s that was in Jacobsen's childhood home. The dial is beige because it was difficult to achieve a pure white color at the time, but ROMAN CLASSIC reproduces the "white" of old-fashioned wall clocks to add a touch of charm. This retro design is combined with gold hands and legs to enhance the nostalgic and elegant charm. This special table clock is an initial production run of only 2,000 units, and is a very valuable clock both in terms of design and as an item.

The simple design pursues visibility based on Jacobsen's idea of ​​"making things that are needed, not beautiful things," and does not use a second hand, so you can use it in your bedroom without worrying about the sound of the hands.

A carefully crafted reproduction of the legendary table clock

In order to reproduce the legendary table clock, ROSENDAHL formed a reproduction project team with senior staff from Lauritz Knudsen. They obtained the rare original product, and brought the legendary clock back to life in modern times by faithfully recreating its design while adding excellent modern features.

The clock is newly equipped with LED lights, movement sensors, and snooze functions, and the battery has been changed from a 220V outlet type to two AA batteries. The alarm sound was also developed specifically for the product.

Although Jacobsen was committed to the electronic sound of the alarm until the end, the technology at the time was not enough to create an electronic sound that was acceptable to the human ear. Inheriting his will, the reproduction project created hundreds of sounds and succeeded in creating a sound that was close to Jacobsen's image, which he had not been able to achieve.
