From the mountains in Ishikawa Prefecture

Mt.Artigiano is a Kaga lacquerware brand born in the mountains of Ishikawa Prefecture, a world-renowned place of traditional crafts and culture. Monte means "mountain" and Artigiano means "artisan." Yamanaka Onsen, where the Mt.Artigiano workshop is located, is literally in the mountains. It was named after the artisans who live in the mountains. Bisai is a line of women's accessories produced in the same workshop as Mt.Artigiano.

When the company was founded in 1981, it produced traditional lacquerware such as tea ceremony utensils, but in response to customer feedback, it began developing accessory items that are suitable for modern times. Traditional craftsmen use the maki-e technique, in which gold powder is sprinkled on lacquer patterns and then polished after drying, to create new lacquer products that go beyond the ordinary, with the desire to "make lacquer more accessible to everyday life."
