At the time, Newport was also known as a place to buy European luxury goods, and Hunter sold cosmetics and personal care products in addition to medicines. He also imported fragrances from Europe and blended 20 unique colognes numbered 1 to 20. George Washington often purchased number 6, which led to the popularity of CASWELL-MASSEY fragrances among politicians and intellectuals of the time.
