The brand Matador started in 2014 in Boulder, Colorado, USA.

The brand started when founder Chris Clearman saw people sitting in a park in San Francisco with their jackets and thick blankets on a moist lawn in the morning dew. I thought it would be easier to relax if there was a compact and packable rug that I could take anywhere, so I started making blankets in his garage. We have completed a waterproof blanket that fits in your pocket.

After that, using his experience as a product designer in material selection and gimmicks, he created his favorite travel and outdoor items, and Matador has grown into a brand of ultra-lightweight travel gear. From his many travel experiences, Chris realizes the importance of reliable travel goods, and emphasizes long-lasting durability, which is rich in nature such as mountains and rivers.
