"Sofa with KLIPPAN" Winter Relaxation Time with KLIPPAN

Just wrapping yourself in one of these, and both your heart and body seem to melt with the warmth and gentleness that comes through from KLIPPAN's blankets and throws. What KLIPPAN has been pursuing for over 140 years is craftsmanship aimed at coexistence with nature, and perhaps it's precisely because they are particular about their wool selection that these pieces have a warmth unlike any other.

In this article, we introduce single blankets and throws, as well as two types of larger-sized blankets that can also serve as bedding. Some of you may think they seem a bit too large for the living room, but this size is actually quite useful for use around the sofa as well. It's a piece that becomes part of your winter interior.

The Difference Between Wool Blankets and Throws, and How to Use Each

Throws have fringe on both sides, but they are roughly the same size as blankets.

A moderate thickness and weight provide reliable warmth—this is the defining feature. This weight comes from being woven in three layers, which enhances the insulating properties. Having a certain amount of weight also means it holds down a light down comforter placed underneath it securely. Beyond simply draping it over yourself, you can use it in various ways, such as laying it under your body as a sheet for noticeably increased warmth. It's a strong ally for winter, keeping you properly protected against the cold even in the depths of the season.

Throws, on the other hand, are thin and light. Because their loose weave holds plenty of air, they have a characteristically fluffy, soft feel. When used as bedding, you can drape it under the down comforter and wrap your body in it, or when placed over the down comforter, turning it a certain way helps block the cold air that comes in from both sides. Being light and airy is exactly what allows the throw to be a favorite through the long stretch from early autumn, when the chill first sets in, through the cool, rainy season in early summer.

Always Keep a KLIPPAN Around the Sofa

A Wool Throw That's Easy to Wrap Around You—for Draping Over Your Shoulders or Your Lap

Throw (130×200) Quilt

Keep a throw draped over the side of the sofa, and it'll come in handy whenever you feel a chill from autumn into winter—quickly wrap it around your shoulders, or use it as a lap blanket. Since it wraps around the body more easily than a thicker blanket, a throw is recommended for anyone who mainly wants something to use as a lap blanket.

Draped over the entire sofa as a sofa cover, it instantly shifts your room into autumn-winter mode. In Sweden, the throw is said to be something you can "always reach out and find right there"—an item that's simply indispensable to daily life.

▼"Goose Eye," the Newest Addition to the Wool Throw Lineup This Year

Recycled Wool Throw (130×200) Goose Eye

This is Goose Eye, a newly added pattern this year. As the name suggests, it features a striking geometric pattern reminiscent of a bird's eye, repeated in sequence—a more contemporary take on a traditional Nordic design. It uses "recycled wool," a sustainable material made from leftover yarn generated during wool production, fulfilling the wish to choose products that are as environmentally conscious as possible. Since 100% recycled wool would have short fibers and lack durability, KLIPPAN's throws blend in new wool yarn at carefully adjusted ratios, resulting in fabric that is both beautiful and durable.

A Wool Blanket Recommended as a Sofa Cover

Wool blankets are densely woven with plenty of wool, making them the warmest option. When using one around the sofa, we recommend draping it over the entire sofa. Your hips, your back, your whole body will become warm and cozy.

KLIPPANのウールブランケットは、デザイン性の高さも魅力。とくにmina perhonenとのコラボで作られた柄は、絵画のような美しさです。裏返せば色が反転するので、印象を手軽に変えられるのもウールブランケットの魅力です。 The KLIPPAN wool blankets are also appealing for their high level of design. The pattern created in collaboration with mina perhonen, in particular, has a beauty reminiscent of a painting. Since the colors reverse when you flip the blanket over, being able to easily change the impression it gives is another charm of wool blankets.

▼A collaboration with mina perhonen, once again returning to the forest

eligible for gift wrapping)Single Blanket RABBITS PLAY BIRDS REST FOREST

RABBITS PLAY BIRDS REST FOREST, born from the collaboration with mina perhonen, depicts "rabbits playing in a shimmering forest, and birds resting their wings." It shows rabbits happily frolicking in a deeply glimmering forest, along with birds perched on the trees resting their wings, expressing a world where a feeling of comfort within warmth coexists with a feeling of celebrating the joys of everyday life. It's said to be a scene imagined from the thought that "perhaps the heart feels happiness when it carries both a sense of security and a sense of exhilaration." Gazing at the finely drawn forest scene that covers the entire surface of the large single-size blanket has a strange charm—simply looking at it is enough to make your mind naturally settle, away from the bustle of daily life.

For everyday care, "airing in the shade" and "brushing" are all you need

Throw (130 × 200) Vinga

When using it around the sofa, how to care for it is something you might worry about. During those relaxing times when you're eating snacks or drinking a warm cup of coffee, you might end up spilling food or getting it dirty. With wool, you might think you can't wash it, but in fact wool care doesn't require you to worry that much.

Lanolin, the oily substance contained in wool, coats the surface of the fibers, repelling sweat and dirt, which means the material is naturally resistant to getting stained in the first place. For that reason, all that's needed for everyday care is "airing in the shade" and "brushing." Rather than leaving sweat and moisture as they are, air the blanket out from time to time in a well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight. Use a wool comb to remove dust, grime, and debris while smoothing out the nap. Loosening any tangled clumps of fiber also helps prevent pilling.

Minor dirt can simply be brushed off with a few pats. If you notice a stain that bothers you, use a highly absorbent cloth slightly dampened with water, and gently dab and press rather than rubbing hard. Afterward, air it out in a well-ventilated spot to keep it looking clean. Since washing causes the lanolin, wool's natural oily component, to wash out, we recommend avoiding washing as much as possible.
