The brand of woodpecker was founded in Gifu Prefecture of Japan where the wood industry is thriving. The founder Koji Fukui, who grew up in a woodturner family, has learned woodworking and began to make wooden tools that could be used on a daily basis. He started to manufacture products from the ginkgo tree since he was requested to make a ginkgo's cutting board from his wife. Seeing his wife enjoys cooking with the ginkgo's cutting board, Mr. Fukui started to spread the charms of ginkgo products. Today, woodpecker produces not only the products of ginkgo but also various kinds of wood.
