Karelian soapstone, produced in Finland, has long been used for fireplaces and cooking utensils due to its high heat and cold retention properties. HUKKA DESIGN uses scraps from making Karelian soapstone fireplaces in its products. We focus on high-quality stones that would otherwise have been thrown away, and engage in sustainable manufacturing with no waste. Each product is carefully made in the northeastern part of Finland, in the region of Tupovala, which is blessed with rich nature. Our healing items are designed with inspiration from the mystical forest where the howling of the brand name HUKKA (= wolf) sometimes echoes, the blue and clear lake, and the deep nature far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
