Lyng by Porcelæn was founded in 1936 as a porcelain maker in Conges Lunview, north of Copenhagen.
It is based on "Holst & Knudsen", a pioneer of Danish ceramics, founded in 1904. At that time, porcelain was imported from a major manufacturer in Central Europe, but in the early 1930s, the import of cheap German porcelain was almost stopped, and the factory was established in-house.
