BIWACOTTON products that you can wear while feeling the commitment in the simple design that you will never get tired of. By brushing up the traditional technique of chijimi fabric using a cotton material that is reliable against the skin, it becomes a functional fabric that is as good as chemical fibers with excellent moisture absorption and quick-drying properties, and is comfortable even in hot and humid seasons. You can enjoy the comfort.
Chijimi fabric is mainly associated with suteteko pants that give the impression that men wear them, but BIWACOTTON is easy to incorporate as a fashion item for both men and women, and it is easy to get used to any coordination.
Thick fabrics always give you a beautiful look
This loquat cotton heavy weight big T is a big silhouette T-shirt using thick heavy weight material. Although it is soft, it is thicker than general cotton T-shirts, and it does not easily get twisted or lose its shape, so it is recommended for those who want toughness rather than lightness. There is not much sheer feeling, so it is safe to see the inner.
Since it is made large and has a little tension, it realizes a beautiful silhouette without widening the body line. The wide width is well-ventilated, and the wide neckline gives the impression of being comfortable.
By switching the back center and sleeves, the design is a little different from general T-shirts. The tag on the sleeve is a casual point.
The simple design makes it familiar with patterned items, and the loquat cotton heavyweight big T is mysterious when combined with the bottom. It is a T-shirt that can be worn for a long time during the year by layering it when it is a little chilly in early spring or early autumn and wearing it as a single piece when going out in summer.
Two sizes of unisex type are available in four basic colors that are easy to match with various coordination. People who are resistant to chemical fibers and high-performance fibers can wear it without hesitation, so it is good to choose it as a gift for Father's Day / Mother's Day or a birthday present as well as your own daily wear. ..
Connecting ancient Japanese techniques to the present
"Loquat cotton" is a fabric developed based on the technique of "Takashima Chijimi", a traditional industry in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, which has continued since the Edo period.
Chijimi is an ancient Japanese refreshing material made to comfortably spend the hot and humid summer in Japan, and it has become widely used by Takashima merchants nationwide. Loquat cotton is a fabric that has evolved to suit modern clothes while inheriting such a small manufacturing method.
The difference between loquat cotton and Chijimi Takashima is the twist of the thread. Chijimi Takashima uses a thread that is twisted stronger than usual, but loquat cotton is twisted from there to the limit, so it feels drier.
Next, weaving such strong twisted yarn into the fabric using an air jet loom that blows the weft with air, but that work is also difficult. Because it is twisted strongly, it often shrinks during weaving. However, when you see this beautiful appearance and elastic fabric, you will want to use it carefully because you can see that it was made carefully over and over again.
In addition, loquat cotton has been devised in the manufacturing process. The features are roughly divided into three parts.
- Feature 1: 100% genuine cotton
Not to mention chemical fibers, we do not use any fibers other than cotton.
However, it is unique to loquat cotton that it stretches well and you can enjoy the unique texture of high-quality linen.
- Feature 2: Comfortable refreshing feeling
It is well-ventilated because it is woven while opening the space between the threads. Since it dries quickly, the excellent water absorption of the cotton material makes it a non-sticky fabric even when sweating.
In addition, the wrinkle-processed uneven effect makes it harder to stick to the skin than general cotton products, so you can wear it comfortably even in the hot summer months.
- Feature 3: Excellent elasticity
After weaving the special strong twisted yarn, it is made into a fabric with better stretchability by passing it through boiling water and shrinking it. There is no stress due to wearing, and the light comfort lasts for a long time.
Karatto, light, and chewy
Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, where Lake Biwa is located and has abundant water resources, is active in the production of cotton fabrics. BIWACOTTON maker Sugioka Orifu Co., Ltd. is located in the area where industrial materials, canvas, pajamas, suteteko and other underwear, and thin cotton fabric materials such as those used for yukata are also made.
Sugioka Orifu, which buys cotton yarn from a trading company, weaves "Takashima Chijimi", which has a history of more than 200 years, and sells the finished products. He has been producing pajamas and suteteko fabrics for many years, but at one point he felt that the clothes he wore changed with the passage of time, so he decided to make the fabrics so that he could wear them not only at home but also outside. And in 2017, we developed "Loquat Cotton", a comfortable fabric with excellent stretchability while retaining the crispness unique to Chijimi.
It is a manufacturer that not only protects the technique of Chijimi Takashima, which has continued since the Edo period, but also continues to challenge new technologies.
