An oval lunch box with a rustic and beautiful appearance finished only with wood and lacquer. The glossy finish of the lacquer not only enhances the taste of the ingredients, but the more you use it, the calmer the texture becomes.
In Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, where lacquer is produced, Shirindo has been making lacquerware for nearly 300 years. We carefully make lacquerware one by one, cherishing that it can be used.
Even after a while
The lacquer coating applied to oval lunch boxes has the effect of suppressing stains and mold, and does not change with temperature and humidity, so it protects the surface of furniture and utensils that have traditionally been used to store things. It has been used as a paint. Since the wood is repeatedly polished and thinly coated, the wood can breathe, and you can enjoy fresh and delicious rice even after a long time. You don't have to worry about oil stains or leaks from gaps, so you can use it with confidence.
The surface of the bento box is finished with a technique called "Hakeme" that leaves the brush through. Since this technique cannot be repainted after it has been painted, it can only be done by highly skilled craftsmen, and has long been used for culinary tableware and tea utensils. Due to the unevenness of the brush, it is difficult to see if it is scratched, so it is perfect for a lunch box for everyday use.
The oval shaped bento box is easy to fill with ingredients and easy to wash. The capacity is a little smaller at 450ml, so it's recommended for children's lunch boxes, or for those who pack only side dishes and carry rice balls and bread separately. There are two colors, black and red, so it's nice to have different colors for your family.
