IWACHU

IRON KETTLE

A gem that continues to be loved

Iwachu continues to innovate while preserving tradition. The products he handles are masterpieces that are loved not only in Japan but also overseas. Iwaki Nambu Tekki makes your daily life a little more luxurious.

Iwachu introduces a new type 5 Arare IH compatible teapot that can also be used as an iron kettle. The teapot that can be used as an iron kettle with the pattern “Arare”, which is typical of Nambu ironware, is compatible with IH as well as direct fire.

Representative of Nambu Tekki

Comes with a tea strainer and can be used for a variety of purposes.A teapot that can also be used as an iron kettle. If you use it for boiling water, the iron naturally dissolves in the water, and you can easily take in iron. You can use it as a teapot with a tea strainer or as a warming bottle for hot sake.

Iron kettles are sometimes limited to either boiling water or teapots, but as the name suggests, this new Arare teapot for both iron kettle and teapot is an item that kills two birds with one stone. The capacity is a generous 0.65L, so you can put tea for your family at once. The power of iron keeps the water warm, so you can enjoy your tea time slowly. This tetsubin is also ideal as a gift for health-conscious people. I would love to have a friend who is worried about anemia and pregnant women.

Traditional crafts that shine with technology

Nambu Ironware, a traditional craft of Iwate Prefecture. It is said that in the middle of the 17th century, the Nambu (Morioka) feudal lord invited a kettle maker from Kyoto to Morioka to make kettles for the tea ceremony. Most of the processes, such as designing, making and assembling the molds, stamping the patterns, and coloring, are all done by hand, and the firing technique used to make the iron kettle has been designated for preservation. Iwachu's products are engraved with the name of Iwachu to guarantee their quality.

Iwachu is also famous as a manufacturer that spread ironware to the European tea market with its colorful ironware making, and the high level of technology is certifiable both in Japan and overseas. We take into account the difference in water quality between Japan and Japan when making materials, and we are a well-known manufacturer that is said to be "Please give me IWACHU", not teapots or pots.

Creating the future of Nambu Tekki

Founded in 1902, a long-established Nambu Tekki maker. Founder Suekichi Iwashimizu's father was a comb craftsman, but Suekichi was fascinated by the charm of Nambu ironware and became an apprentice to a Nambu ironware craftsman.

Iwachu has one of the largest factories in the industry and in Japan, and manufactures a wide variety of products, from tetsubin and ironware that fit in with modern life to handmade Nambu tetsubin that inherits tradition. We have two factories, the Semboku Factory, which manufactures iron kettles, and the Iioka Factory, which manufactures kitchenware. In Semboku, you can see the craftsmanship of the kettle makers up close, and there is also a gallery of products. We are also focusing on handing down Nambu Tekki to future generations.

Feature of product

  • - It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as iron kettles, teapots, and hot pots.

Before using for the first time

  • - When using as an iron kettle / hot water kettle: Please perform the work of "strengthening".
After lightly rinsing the body, add water up to the 8th minute, bring to a boil over medium heat, and discard the hot water. Repeat this 2-3 times. In addition, please be careful about empty firing.
*If you boil the water with low heat, the water will become cloudy.
*If you haven't used it for a long time, please do the "break-in" work at the beginning of use.
    - When using as a teapot: Wash the main body with lukewarm water before using.

Care after use

  • - When used as an iron kettle / hot water kettle: Throw away the excess hot water as soon as possible, wash it with hot water and remove the moisture sufficiently. Leaving the product with water on it may cause rust.
    - When used as a teapot: Be sure to remove the tea leaves and wash with hot water to remove the moisture. If you leave the tea leaves in it for a long time, it will turn black. (There is no harm to the human body)
    - If you leave tea in the teapot for a long time or use it continuously, the tannins and iron in the tea may react and turn the tea black. If you wash away the remaining tea with hot water each time you use it, the color will be reduced.

daily care

  • - Wipe off the water on the surface with kitchen paper or a dry cloth, and be careful not to leave any moisture.
    - If you want to make the teapot shiny, wipe it lightly with a tightly wrung cloth while the teapot is still hot (such as after boiling water).
    - If the hot water becomes rusty and has an odor, follow the steps below to brew sencha.
    1. After lightly rinsing the main unit, add water until the 8th minute.
    2. Put about a teaspoon of sencha in a dashi pack or tea pack, and boil it with water for about 30 minutes over medium heat or lower. Slide the lid to let the steam escape so that the hot water doesn't boil over.
    3. The hot water will turn black, so throw it away. Rinse lightly and boil water 1-2 times before use.
*After the tea is boiled, the hot water may become slightly colored, but it can be used once the red rust-like turbidity and metaliness disappear. The color will soften as the water boils.
