Arne Jacobsen is one of the 20th century most influential architects and designers born in Denmark. He is the father of Danish design who created the prototype of today's modern Scandinavian design. The chairs designed by the world, such as the world's first “ant chair” that realized a three-dimensional curved surface with a back seat, the “seven chair” with beautiful lines, and the “egg chair” that draws a gentle curve that wraps around the body, still attract many people. I continue to be fascinated.
“Making what is needed, not making something beautiful,” says Jacobsen. The calculated product that embodies the creator's viewpoint and the user's viewpoint in a high level is highly valued not only in Denmark but also all over the world.
Arne Jacobsen Burgundy not realized
In the late 1930s, plastic was called a “magic material” and was not a common material. Arne Jacobsen's table clock announced at that time surprised many people at the time of its design, price and material usage. Among them, it was the coloring that caught the eye of people. High purity "black" that was difficult to achieve with the technology at that time, "white" that did not fade even when time passed, Lauritz Knudsen, which was manufactured with Jacobsen at that time, dust and machine oil It ’s still a mystery how this beautiful color was realized in a poor environment. Prior to realizing this black and white at that time, Lauritz Knudsen wanted to make this table clock in a third color that was not white or black. That is this “burgundy”. When the project started in the late 1930s, it is a special collection that reproduces colors that were in the concept but were not realized.

In the late 1930s, Jacobsen created a table clock for Lauritz Knudsen, Denmark's largest electrical equipment manufacturer, triggered by the success of large-scale projects such as Bellavista apartments.
This product, called the phantom table clock, was discontinued in a short period of time due to the influence of the war. It has been a turning point for Jacobsen, who has been mainly involved in housing design, and is said to be the beginning of numerous masterpiece designs that have remained in history.
The “phantom table clock” reprinted product
ROSENDAHL formed a reproduction project team with the senior staff of Lauritz Knudsen in order to reproduce the phantom table clock. We obtained a rare original product, added the functions that were faithful to the design and adapted to the present age, and revived the phantom clock in the present age. Newly equipped with LED light, movement sensor and snooze function, the battery has been changed from 220V outlet type to 2 AA batteries. The alarm sound was also developed exclusively.
At that time, Jacobsen was completely concerned with the electronic sound of the alarm, but the technology at that time was not enough to create an electronic sound that could be accepted by human ears. Inheriting his will, he made hundreds of sounds in the reprint project and succeeded in creating sounds that would be close to his image that Jacobsen couldn't realize.
A table clock that is easy to use regardless of location, while having a good size and presence. Reproduced in 1943, “STATION” was made with a simple Arabic numeral font with higher visibility.
Since 2012, Arne Jacobsen has adopted and announced colors that are not in the existing collection for the table clock, based on the color chart that he selected before his birth. From this series that has received a lot of responses, we will revive limited two models that were particularly popular. The first series “Burgundy” and the second “Green” are carefully selected colors by Jacobsen and harmonize with various interiors and accessories regardless of the place. In addition, the colors that shine in the Christmas season are also recommended as gifts.
