MACHETE is an accessory brand established in 2017 in the United States by designer Jennifer J Matchett. After earning a degree in art history in Gainesville, Florida, Jennifer was inspired by a collection of antique and vintage jewelry and began designing accessories herself.
Preferring tortoiseshell accessories that are simple and classic materials, there were also regulations on the protection of sea turtles and the environmental impact is serious, so choosing tortoiseshell itself was not ethical.Thinking about making other materials that are close to tortoiseshell, that was the reason why MACHETE started using cellulose acetate, the iconic material of the brand.
