A round silhouette glass HOPE that fits in your hand. SKRUF products are made of blown glass. Blown glass is a one-of-a-kind piece that is full of charm that cannot be found in mass-produced products. The glass produced in the Småland region, known as the kingdom of glass, has dignified beauty and charm in its simplicity.
Warm handmade glass
Blown glass is characterized by fluctuations in uniformity, where there are no exactly the same pieces. You can even feel the warmth and softness of human handwork from the colorless and transparent glass that is different one by one.
On the bottom, there is evidence of handiwork called ponte traces. In blown glass, the base of the glass is formed on the tip of the blown glass and attached to another rod. At this time, molten glass called ponte is used as an adhesive. When the ponte rod is attached to the bottom, cut off the blowing rod, and then mold the mouthpiece. The rod is removed from the ponte, and the remnants of this time are the "ponte marks". It is one of the parts that show individuality depending on the artist. Knowing the background of the thick and plump bottom makes this glass even more charming.
Glass HOPE is a set of 2 glasses that is perfect for gifts. Each carefully crafted blown glass has a simple design that goes well with juice, tea, cold sake, cold drinks and ice. It also makes a great gift for celebrations such as weddings, housewarmings, and anniversaries.
History of Småland and Glass
The history of Swedish glass begins in the Småland region, located in the forested highlands of southern Sweden. Forests and water are important elements for the glass industry, and this richness of nature is one of the reasons why glass has developed in Småland. In the 20th and 21st centuries it was also home to several manufacturers that became famous for Swedish glass. In recent years, some brands have moved to mechanization and manufacturing overseas, but in this region, handmade products have continued for over 250 years, and the refined techniques have been passed down to the next generation.
Glass making with warmth
SKRUF is a long-established glass manufacturer that has been in business since 1897 in Småland, southern Sweden. The Småland region is also known as Glasriket, which means the kingdom of glass in Swedish, and is still dotted with many glass workshops. It's a thing. All glass made by SKRUF is handmade. The slightly fluctuating contours and moderate thickness of blown glass give a strange impression of softness and warmth, unlike the general impression that glass is hard and cold. Many designers, such as Ingegerdroman, have designed in the long history, and now designer and glass artist Carina Ness and her girlfriend Anderson are working on many. All of SKRUF's glass products are simple yet have sophisticated designs with individuality. With an appearance that fits in with your daily life, it quietly snuggles up to your daily life.
